Each public works bidder bidding on a contract in excess of $300,000 may be required to submit to the director of public works or other appropriate department director, upon demand and at any time prior to the award of contract, satisfactory evidence that the bidder has sufficient means, plans, equipment and experience to enable the bidder to undertake and successfully complete the work specifications. The director of public works or other appropriate department director may accept as satisfactory evidence and contractor’s certification that the bidder/contractor is prequalified for similar work by the Washington State Department of Transportation.
