It shall be unlawful for any keeper of a junk shop or operator of a junk wagon to purchase any article or thing of character which they may or should have reason to believe to be stolen property such as copper wire, copper, brass or brass fittings, or any other article that the chief of police, sheriff, his deputies or other police officers have beforehand notified them of.
