The chief of police may waive payment of a false alarm fee imposed under this chapter if the person against whom the fee is assessed acknowledges that the alarm was false and documents the condition or defect which caused the false alarm and that such condition or defect has been corrected. Application for payment waiver shall be filed in writing with the chief of police within ten days of receipt of the notice of imposition of the fee. Correction shall be completed within a reasonable time as determined by the chief. Waiver of payment shall not be deemed to waive any other finding or administrative sanction.

The chief's determination as to waiver of payment and a reasonable time for correction shall be issued in writing and may be appealed within ten days of its receipt as set forth in Section 8.52.040 of this chapter. (Ord. M-2986 §5, 1992)
