By her last will and testament, Grace V. Stearns, who died July 26, 1949, bequeathed and devised one-half of the residue of her estate to the city of Vancouver "to further the humane treatment of animals." The property will consist of one thousand four hundred seventy dollars and twenty-two cents in cash plus a one-half interest in certain real property in the city of Vancouver and in certain oil royalties.

Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 80, Laws of 1941, the city of Vancouver hereby accepts the bequest and devise to be used for the purposes and in accordance with the terms set forth in the will of Grace V. Stearns. (Ord. C-316 §§1, 2, 1950)
