This section is included in your selections.

The driver of any vehicle that strikes a pedestrian or bicyclist, whether or not apparent injury occurs, shall:

1. Remain or return to the scene. Immediately stop such vehicle at the scene of such event, or stop such vehicle as close to the scene of such event as possible and immediately return to the scene of such event. In every event the driver shall remain at the scene of such event until he or she has fulfilled the requirements of this section or until every person struck has left the scene. Every such stop shall be made without obstructing traffic more than is necessary.

2. Provide information to the person struck. Unless otherwise provided in VMC 7.16.030, the driver of any vehicle that strikes a pedestrian or bicyclist shall give his or her name, address, insurance company, insurance policy number, and vehicle license number, and shall display his or her driver’s license to any person struck. If insurance and/or an operator’s license is not required to drive the vehicle that strikes a pedestrian or bicyclist, providing such information is not required under this section. It is a violation of this section for the driver of a vehicle to provide false information to any pedestrian or bicyclist struck by a vehicle that he or she was driving. (Ord. M-4115 § 3, 2015)
