This section is included in your selections.

A. All work done under a permit issued pursuant to this chapter is subject to inspection by the City; the work will not be deemed complete until the inspector accepts it as satisfactory.

B. Inspection approval may not be construed to be an approval of a violation of the provisions of this code or of other ordinances. Inspections presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this code or of other ordinances are not valid.

C. The permittee must cause the work to be accessible and exposed for inspection. If inspection requires the removal or replacement of material, the City is not liable for the expense of the removal or replacement.

D. Inspection requests. The permittee or the permittee’s authorized agent or contractor must notify the City that the work is ready for inspection within 48 hours of the beginning of the permitted work.

1. The City may require that every subsequent request for inspection be filed at least one working day before inspection is desired.

2. The request must be made by the method provided by the City for requesting and scheduling inspections for work within the right of way.

3. The permittee or the permittee’s authorized agent or contractor and/or the person requesting an inspection must provide the City with access to the premises and the means to inspect the permitted work.

E. Approval required. Work must not proceed beyond the point indicated in each successive inspection without first obtaining the approval of the City.

1. The City inspector, upon notification, will make the required inspections and 1) indicate that the portion of the construction is satisfactory as completed, or 2) notify the permittee of conditions that are not in compliance with project requirements.

2. The notification of conditions that are not in compliance with project requirements will be in writing in the form of a correction notice and will specify the work that is not in conformance, identify the section of the project requirements that the work does not comply with, and set a period for its correction and a request for reinspection. Failure to correct the noncompliant condition and request reinspection within the period noted in the correction notice is a violation of this chapter.

3. Any portion of construction that is not in compliance with project requirements must be corrected and cannot be covered or concealed without City authorization.

F. Final inspection. After all the work that is required and/or is authorized by the permit has been completed, the City will perform a final inspection. (Ord. M-4026 §11, 2012)
