Members of the Vancouver Fire Department arson investigation unit, as are from time to time appointed in writing by the fire chief, acting in their capacity as arson investigators, shall have the same powers of arrest as are available to police officers of the city for any fire related crime including arson, reckless burning, malicious mischief, reckless endangerment and false reporting and all violations of the city's fire or building code.
