A. Establishment of Taxi Zones. The traffic engineer may establish taxi zones alongside the curb in any street pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 5.76 of this code. Such taxi zones shall be subject to the restrictions and provisions of this title and shall be appropriately marked. The actual cost of materials and labor used in marking such taxi zones shall be charged to and paid by the owners of the taxicabs using such zones.

B. Use of Taxi Zones. All taxi zones shall be used and reserved primarily for the parking of taxicabs, sometimes known as "anywhere for-hire cars." No person shall stand, stop or park any vehicle other than a taxicab in any taxi zone now or hereafter established, except that the driver of a passenger vehicle may stop therein temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading passengers when such stopping does not interfere with any taxicab waiting to enter or about to enter such zone. (Ord. M-3276 §9, 1996: Ord. C-184 §89, 1948)
